I believe sharing our culture increases its chance of survival.
I’m not here as a businessman, but an artist sharing his culture and gift with the world.
Los Lagartijos is based on a Posada chapbook cover.
This large canvas was prepared with newspaper articles I was collecting containing information I took to be troubling at the time concerning what I believed to be indications that a deregulated financial services sector was creating huge short term gains for investors and analysts thought he sale of Financial Tools such as CDO and CDSs which predictably led to a giant crash months later. I was told the work was too busy, so I painted reproduction of an old Posada chapbook cover about greedy rich people called "Los Lagartijos". Lizard was a slang term in Spanish referring to the fact that the wealthy class's apathy toward the poor could be explained by the supposition that rich people (like lizards) are cold-blooded.
