Jimi Hendrix was one of the first Black Indians to assert his biracial identity on the world stage. Misunderstood and largely unnoticed in his home country he found his way to Europe the way so many black artists (Josephine Baker, etc.) would have to and there he was both extremely productive and wildly influential to other contemporary artists of what would come to be known as the British Invasion. His consistent innovation and work ethic is legendary and he gave generations of biracial people the permission to be themselves, and let their fashion reflect their identity. His demons got the best of him as so many of his contemporaries had done and would do. Sorely missed, still appreciated. I painted this with Ivan J. Wachter and incredibly talented animator, portrait artist, and orator.
