In this scene the old jaguar paddler gods are stretching across the night sky as constellations with SunPaddler leading, the next constellation is OC (the Dog) who displays the hand sign "to follow", next is the Parrot who though he has wings and could fly is for some reason in a boat, so he "throws up the eye rain" or "laughs"; the corn god is in the middle and he is signing"eye rain" which means to cry because he has no wings and is a captive; the monkey is inverting the sign in a melodramatic fashion to convey how upset he is as one who has become accustomed to swinging through the trees is now a captive as well on this never-ending cosmic boat ride; the lizard can mimic emotion but does not feel it if (if you are unhappy other people may behave as if they are unhappy, even if they are not the way lizards change their body temperature the last paddler is the opposite of the first, the "night paddler".
